Hello Everyone,
I found this article on Disability Scoop. It’s on the longer side, but it provides valuable information about the changes that are expected in January:
Trump Administration Sued Over Medicaid Changes – Disability Scoop
Some states are fighting. We need to stay informed and keep contacting our state and federal legislators. We must tell them our stories about how important Medicaid and Community-Based Services are to the disability community.
Tying work requirements to eligibility for medical coverage is unfair to the medically complex among us, and I don’t think I am the only one who sees the irony. Fact: We have always wanted to work, but we are trapped in a support system that takes away services when we start making too much money. The administrative burden of these changes is ridiculous in a system in which it takes weeks to be approved. I think these changes will make it longer and harder to get what you need. They want us to give up but we are the toughest people in the US.
If they are so concerned about saving money, why are they making decisions that will put us back in institutions? The cynic in me says this is the kind of backward thinking that demonstrates Ableism. The dominant majority wants us out of sight and out of mind. We can’t go back. Don’t give up.
